Guitar - Voice - Piano - Theory - Ukulele-Percussion
Keith Sullivan has taught guitar at Jacksonville State University, Birmingham Southern, Snead State and Wallace State. He has four pieces published with the reputable Italian publisher, Berben, for various instruments and guitar. Keith has a master's degree in Music Theory and Composition from The University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a Bachelor of Music from The University of Southern Mississippi in guitar performance where he received a voice scholarship and worked with renowned vocal coach Dr. William Weinert, currently at Eastman School of Music. He teaches guitar and ukulele using his own self published books incorporating unique methods that produce quick results. He is a passionate instructor who always strives for and expects the best from his students. His current recording Dance,Nocturne, Elegy - can be found on www.amazon.com and itunes and has been played on National Public Radio in Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. Keith performs New Age and Celtic music with his wife Karla and daughter Grania throughout the Southeast. Their latest cd, Transitions, can be purchased at most online retailers. Harp - Wind Instruments
Karla Sullivan teaches traditional Celtic harp and wind instruments. Karla is an active member of the Scottish Harp Society of America and was awarded first place in the Early Scottish Music category at the Stone Mountain Highland Games in 2008 and again in the journeyman category in 2013. She has students who have also won numerous awards including first place in the Journeyman Category at Nationals for Scottish Harp. She promotes the Clarsach, or the traditional Gaelic wire strung harp, and enjoys giving presentations about this instrument. Karla attended Troy State University, and her harp teachers include Kelly Stewart, as well as masterclasses with other world renowned harpists. Karla studied with Ann Heymann at the Ohio Scottish Arts School at Oberlin College where she was awarded a scholarship for 2009. Karla has been performing the flute for over 25 years, and currently performs with the Irish Flute. She is currently available for Tuesday and Thursday lessons.
Cello-Violin
Avalee is pursuing a Bachelors of Music in Cello Performance at the University of Alabama and will graduate in December of 2023. She has maintained a GPA of plus 4.0. For her first Huxford Symphony concert as a UA freshman, she was named assistant-principal cello. She has been a contract cellist for the North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra since 2018 and currently serve as assistant principal. She regularly plays with Tuscaloosa and with Mobile Symphonies on occasion. For the 2022-2023 season, Avalee was interim principal for Starkville Symphony Orchestra.
Avalee participated in the Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute in 2019 and 2023 where she enjoyed furthering her studies of the Baroque cello and learning about the history and musical culture of the period.
She enjoys classical and pre-classical performance of all kinds from solo to chamber to orchestral. She participated in the ISMI music festival through University of North Texas, in 2022.
In 2019, she was named the first-ever Honourable Mention in the Pickard Competition of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. From the ABRSM, Avalee was awarded a Grade 8 Distinction recognition in 2019. After graduation, Avalee plans to pursue a Master’s degree in cello performance at a conservatory.
Guitar - Summer Lecturer
Barry "Po" Hannah has a masters degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Tennessee. He has performed with some of the most iconic musicians in the past 30 years. Barry is a summer lecturer and teaches at our Summer Workshops. Sign up for one of our summer camps to study personally with Barry.
Piano
We are pleased to have our newest member of the LGMA team beginning summer 2018. Bonita has a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from the University of Alabama and a Teaching Certificate degree from the University of Montevallo. She is an advocate for the Piano Safari Method, and is the current pianist at First Presbyterian Church in Guntersville.
Guitar - Ukulele - Percussion
Cameron Davis began studying guitar at LGMA 10 years ago. Cameron hold a degree in Music Production from the University of North Alabama. Cameron has passed Grade 5 ABRSM certification with merit and Grade 5 voice. He currently performs with a local Christian group, and he is very active in the rock scene including assisting with our rock camps.
